Léa Marchal, known also as Elem Studio, is a lino carving artist based in Montreuil, France. Her art is the fruit of a fascination with the human body and, in particular, the female figures. Through her works, Léa shows buxom women and tries to deconstruct stereotypes of beauty. Although the choice of the subjects is due to the celebration of the female beauty and the universal expressivity of the human body, it is very interesting how her compositions are able to explore different artistic languages. In fact, while the technical reproducibility recalls contemporary approaches, the manual and artistic skills necessary to create the matrix and the iconography that resembles the icon-figures of ancient Greek vases highlight her refined expressive research.
