Desiderio - Toys Series #4
This artwork has been exhibited during the 54th Venice Biennale (2011) in the Cuba Pavilion. It is part of the Toys Series, in which Desiderio extrapolates icon-images from the comic-book world. Looking at cartoons' symbols like The Simpson and Disney characters, the painter creates a fantastic still life painting in which he exhibits the millennial's pop collective imagination.
Born in 1978 in Milan, Desiderio is currently one of the most interesting Italian artists. The painter has found in art the perfect way to set his emotions free. Through painting, Desiderio empties his mind. Known for is gloomy atmospheres and his grotesque-pop iconography, the artist has exhibited his works in many cultural centers like Venice (La Biennale, 2011), Cuba (Centro de Arte Contemporaneo Wilfredo Lam) and Japan (Itabashi Art Museum).
