Virginia Vargas - Barattoli
The artwork Barattoli (barrels), made by Virginia Vargas, is part of a limited black and white series, in which the artist proposes deeply realistic images related to contemporary life, exotic cultures and folklore. Showing her refined artistic skills, Vargas illustrates some piles of barrels of sake. In particular, the composition reproduces the iconic casks donated to the Meiji Shrine, the “jinja” (Shinto shrine) dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and his wife, the Empress Shōken. The sanctuary is located in Shibuya, Tokyo.
